Jeremiah Smith has established himself as the greatest wide receiver in Ohio State history, breaking nearly all the Buckeyes’ receiving records. However, a prominent CFB figure believes he may have played his last collegiate game.

Against Oregon on Saturday, the wideout notched seven receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown. However, the team lost 28-41, squandering a 14-0 first-quarter lead and being outscored 0-31 in the next 30 minutes.

During a post-game discussion, former two-time championship-winning Alabama running back Damien Harris made these telling comments about Smith’s future as Ohio State faces a lost season:

“We just watched Jeremiah Smith play his last snap at Ohio State. He’s done. He’s gonna pack it up. … The season is gone; we saw (that) this isn’t a College Football Playoff team. They were already on the outside looking in. He’s already etched his name in the history books. … In my opinion, there’s nothing to gain, there’s everything to lose if you’re Jeremiah Smith.”

After the game, one question Oregon head coach Dan Lanning was asked was about Jeremiah Smith’s performance. He wasted no time praising the athlete (via Eleven Warriors):

“Obviously, their wide receiver is as good as anybody. There were some that we gave him for free, and then there were some that you just have to chop up to the game and say, ‘That guy’s special.’ So that showed up for him today. But a really talented team, a well-coached team.”

Ohio State next plays Northwestern. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. ET.
