Unfortunately for the Golden State Warriors, they failed to take care of business during the regular season and missed out on the postseason festivities.
However, the seven-time NBA champions have plenty to look forward to, as they’ve already been linked to several high-profile trade targets in the offseason. Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker is among the assets that some believe could join the Dubs after Phoenix’s early playoff exit.
That said, the Dubs didn’t receive encouraging news regarding their chances of landing Booker via a blockbuster deal.
“Devin Booker’s our franchise player,” Suns owner Matt Ishibia said Thursday. “I love Devin Booker,” “Devin Booker loves being here. Our coach loves Devin Booker, our GM loves Devin Booker, Devin Booker is going to be here,” said Ishbia. “He’s going to lead us to a championship, here in Phoenix.”

“That’s what he’s gonna do, and we’re going to build the right team around him. He’s gonna get better, just like I’m gonna get better, just like everyone is gonna get better in our organization. At the same time, Devin Booker is who we want here, and he’s great for the city, great for the community. I’ll ride into a fire with Devin Booker, and I’ll do it proudly.”
There’s only one logical takeaway from Ishbia’s end-of-season press conference: Booker isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Ishbia’s comments are a bit surprising that the Suns haven’t succeeded in the postseason with Booker as a go-to scoring option since 2021
From an individual success standpoint, Booker has been tremendous with the Suns lately. The 29-year-old pure scorer has averaged at least 26 points per game in four of his last five campaigns and will continue to be regarded as one of the most talented shot creators/shot makers in the NBA.
Still, his contributions haven’t equated to lengthy postseason runs, which explains why it wouldn’t have been shocking to witness him on the trade block this summer. The Warriors could surely use offensive firepower in the Bay, especially if the franchise starts the offseason on a rough note.

That clearly isn’t a feasible option, though, allowing the Warriors to eliminate him from their list of potential targets.
