United States President Donald Trump has stated that Iran is now interested in negotiating a deal.
Nevertheless, the American leader emphasized that he will not agree to any arrangement that permits Tehran to possess a nuclear weapon.
Trump indicated that discussions have encountered a stalemate concerning nuclear matters and that a “blockade” of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz has commenced.
He claimed that Iran had “called this morning” expressing their desire to negotiate a deal, as reported by Reuters.
“Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon,” Trump asserted to reporters during an unplanned press conference at the White House on Monday. “We cannot allow a nation to blackmail or extort the world.”
When questioned about the operation of oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, he responded, “Many tankers are entering empty and leaving full; we have significant capacity to manage that.”
Trump asserted that 34 ships transited the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, claiming this to be the highest figure since the “foolish closure” began.
