Former Vanderbilt and North Carolina forward Jalen Washington has found a new destination after winning his injunction against the NCAA. He transferred to the Tennessee Volunteers, according to Joe Tipton of On3 via Washington’s agent Daniel Poneman.
Washington received a court order in Ohio from the NCAA granting him eligibility to play for the 2026-27 season. He was one of several players from the freshman class of 2022 to sue the NCAA for a fifth season after not redshirting any season and playing four seasons.

Washington spent three seasons in North Carolina and one season at Vanderbilt. The 6-foot-10, 225-pound power forward has averages of 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game throughout his career. Last season, with the Vanderbilt Commodores, he had 8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game over 36 games.
Tennessee basketball has had a great offseason that could send them over the top. They picked up Wake Forest guard Juke Harris from the transfer portal as well, along with VCU guard Terrence Hill Jr., Notre Dame forward Jalan Haralson, Cal guard Dai Dai Adams, and Belmont transfer Tyler Lundblade. They’re gearing up to try to make their first Final Four appearance in Rick Barnes’ tenure.
