In just his second IPL season, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from Bihar has turned the Rajasthan Royals’ top order into one of the most feared batting units in the tournament’s history.
Across 14 league-stage matches, Sooryavanshi scored 583 runs at an average of 41.64 and a strike rate of 232.27. Those numbers are in a league of their own.

The defining feature of Sooryavanshi’s season has been the sheer volume of sixes. He struck 53 maximums in the league stage, and now only Chris Gayle’s record of 59 sixes stands in front of him.
Against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur, Sooryavanshi reached his century in 36 balls. It happens to be the fastest hundred of the 2026 season and the third-fastest in IPL history.
He also rewrote the powerplay record books, scoring 426 of his runs in the first six overs, overtaking Travis Head’s 2024 benchmark to register the second-highest powerplay tally in a single IPL season.
