Uruguay failed to hold on to all three points against Cape Verde, and their World Cup fate will depend on their final Group Stage match.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side will fight for a place in the Round of 32 against Spain, at a time of uncertainty, as they have yet to win a match in the World Cup.

At the end of Matchday 2, Spain sit at the top with four points. Uruguay and Cape Verde are tied on three, separated only by goal difference. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia are stuck at the bottom of the table with one point.
A win over Spain would send them through directly. In the event of a draw, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia would need to share the points, with the Africans finishing with fewer goals scored or behind on Fair Play.
If they lose, their chances of advancing as one of the best third-placed teams become much more complicated.
