J.J. McCarthy: You are a New York Giants quarterback now. Thanks to a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, the franchise that lost Jaxson Dart to a year-ending knee injury has another young quarterback in the fold, a former first-round pick who didn’t live up to the hype in his brief time.
Does that mean McCarthy will leapfrog Jameis Winston? We’d say it’s time to pump the brakes here. What we do know is that it’ll take time for McCarthy to learn the playbook and to get some practices under his belt. But by midseason? If Winston keeps struggling like he has in one-and-a-half starts this year? It’s possible.
