Matchday 2 in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League presents an opportunity for a number of teams to get off the mark in Europe this season. We have predictions for Tuesday’s Champion League matches featuring FC Barcelona, Napoli, and Arsenal.
Despite missing Raphinha due to an injury sustained in his national team duties for Brazil, FC Barcelona are on autopilot right now, a perfect 8-0-0 in La Liga, having scored 34 goals and conceded only 7 in that span, The whole Blaugrana team is getting in on the fun including Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus. Everything flows for Hansi Flick’s Catalan Champions at this moment as they move the ball, dribble with immense talent, and break down low blocks. Even a difficult trip to Turkey leaves them as favorites against Galatasaray.

Galatasaray are limping after a shock 4-0 defeat against Mohamed Salah and Trabzonspor on September 19th in the Superlig, they also suffered a matchday 1 defeat against Sporting CP in the Champions League.
Galatasaray are not defensively sound, and it’s a question if Victor Osimhen will start. Rams Park will be loud, but Barcelona look prepared to handle that right now better than almost any team in the world.
Prediction: FC Barcelona 3-1
Martin Demichelis may not keep his job as manager of RB Leipzig, but they thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 6-0 on the weekend when the Bundesliga returned, having also beaten HSV 5-0 earlier in the season. Leipzig can score goals, but a brutal stretch awaits with PSV, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid their next three matches. Christopher Nkunku and Antonio Nusa have combined for seven Bundesliga goals this season.
PSV have started the Dutch Eredivisie season just a point behind Feyenoord for first place after eight games. Sergino Dest, Ricardo Pepi, and Guus Til have continued to be the standouts. PSV will be without three first-choice players including the long-term injured Alassane Plea. Leipzig misses Christoph Baumgartner among others.

Leipzig at home, with an attack that can hurt PSV feels like bad news for the Dutch side.
Prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1
Since losing to Arsenal on September 9th, Napoli went 2-1-0 in the Serie A and built some momentum. Kevin De Bruyne at 35, still among the classiest and most impactful midfielders in Europe.
Villarreal continued to struggle in Europe, losing 3-2 to Dortmund on matchday 1. The La Liga returns since? A mixed bag. Losses to quality Real Betis and Real Madrid teams, wins over Malaga and Levante. Papa Gueye and Alberto Moleiro their midfielder leaders.

With Villareal missing Nicolas Pepe and Tajon Buchanan, the chances for Napoli will rise. There’s not a lot to separate these teams, but confidence at Villarreal in the Champions League is near rock bottom.
