Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has singled out manager Michael Carrick’s substitutes against AS Roma for special praise following both teams’ Champions League clash on Tuesday.
Schmeichel believes the players – Youri Tielemans, Lisandro Martínez, Shea Lacey, Matthijs de Ligt and Mason Mount – who came off the bench made a difference for Manchester United against Roma at Old Trafford.
A goal from Bruno Fernandes and a brace from Matheus Cunha ensured Man United came from 2-0 down to beat the Serie A side 3-2.
“Michael on Saturday vs. Chelsea made some substitutions that unfortunately did not have any kind of impact on the game,” Schmeichel told CBS Sports Golazo.
“Today, he made substitutions [Youri Tielemans, Lisandro Martínez,
Shea Lacey, Matthijs de Ligt and
Mason Mount] that made an impact.”
Man United will now face Aston Villa in the Premier League in their next match this weekend.
