Two herders and several cattle have reportedly been killed after gunmen attacked the Tafawa community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday night.
The Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday.
According to Babayo, the attackers invaded the victims’ residence, shot the two men dead and escaped before help could arrive.
He expressed concern over what he described as recurring attacks on Fulani communities in the state, insisting that those responsible for the killings must be held accountable.
Babayo said MACBAN would not remain silent over the continued loss of lives and called on security agencies to investigate the incident.
He specifically urged the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, and the Commander of Operation Enduring Peace to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
The association also appealed for increased security presence in Tafawa and other vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
