Northern Ireland rider Darryl Tweed has had surgery on injuries sustained in Supersport qualifying at the North West 200 road race.
Tweed crashed in Thursday’s final qualifying session at the Whins section of the circuit, which brought out the red flag to end the session early.

A North West 200 statement on Thursday night said Tweed was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast by ambulance after the accident.
His team said that he is “OK” and had surgery on injuries sustained in the crash.
“We would like to thank the marshals, medics, and hospital staff for all their help and support,” his team posted on social media.
“We also appreciate everyone who has been in touch with messages and well wishes — it really means a lot.
“Wishing Darryl a smooth surgery and speedy recovery.”
Qualifying at the North West 200 was moved to Thursday night after the death of Czech Republic rider Kamil Holan in the opening Superbike session on Thursday morning.

The three races scheduled for Thursday night were cancelled and qualifying took place instead, with the approval of Holan’s family for the event to continue.
Six races are scheduled to take place on Saturday around the 8.97-mile Triangle Circuit in Northern Ireland.
