A hit British reality show has set up camp in B.C.

ITV officially confirmed I’m a Celebrity … The Wild Frontier, a spinoff series set to go to air in 2027, is being filmed in Canada.

While the network hasn’t confirmed the exact locations, a little online sleuthing points to filming happening now predominately in the Callaghan Valley, just south of Whistler. Reports also have the production filming at Minaty Bay, south of Squamish on the eastern shore of the Howe Sound.

The announcement came via a YouTube video with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly standing in front of mountainous backdrop.

“It’s a brand-new show with an exciting new format, loads of new trials and challenges, and we cannot wait to bring it to you,” Donnelly says in the video announcing the new reality show.

While part of the I’m a Celebrity franchise, this new series will feature a major twist: Celebrities will compete in pairs rather than as individuals. Duos can consist of two celebrities together, a celebrity and a family member, or a celebrity and their best friend. They will eat, compete and are eliminated together as one.

The series will see six pairings undertake tough trials and challenges to win food in a bid to be the last pair standing. After weeks in the woods, viewers will decide the overall winners by casting the final vote in a final broadcast live from London.

According to media outlets, the rumoured celebrities include: Rio Ferdinand and Kate Ferdinand, Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy, and Christopher Dean and Karen Barber.

McPartlin said in the YouTube video that competitors better be ready for anything “because out here in the Canadian wilderness, danger lurks around every corner. One word — bears!”
