Maple Ridge RCMP said it happened near the 25700-block of Lougheed Highway at around 2 p.m.

A pickup sustained “significant damage,” police said in a statement.

A woman died at the scene while a man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police say the train operator is co-operating and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. police were notified.
