Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully discovered and safely detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted in Gajiram town along the Maiduguri axis in Borno State.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on Monday.
According to the report, the explosive device was found near the exit gate of Gajiram at about 9:09 p.m. on April 21 by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal/Route Clearance (EOD/RD) team attached to the Forward Operating Base in the area.
The team reportedly detected the device during a routine security sweep and immediately secured it to prevent any danger to civilians and military personnel.
It was then safely detonated in a controlled manner by the troops, ensuring that no lives or property were harmed in the process.
After the operation, security forces conducted further clearance and surveillance in the surrounding area to rule out any additional threats.
Authorities said the situation in Gajiram remains calm but unpredictable, adding that patrols and monitoring have been intensified along key routes.
The swift response, according to military sources, demonstrates the readiness and vigilance of troops in countering explosive threats posed by insurgent groups in the region.
