Troops carrying out security operations in Nigeria’s North-West have arrested another person suspected of working with armed bandits in the region.
A security source told security expert Zagazola Makama that the suspect was arrested during an intelligence-led operation and is currently helping investigators with information about the activities and movements of bandit groups.
The source said “the arrest was part of sustained efforts by the troops to identify individuals suspected of providing information, logistics and other forms of support to bandits, particularly those facilitating their operations from within local communities.”
According to the source, the arrest shows that security forces are putting more pressure on criminal networks as troops continue to track suspected collaborators and bandit commanders through intelligence gathering and targeted operations.
