Tomia Geter had plenty of options of places to continue her softball career collegiately.
The Grand Ledge senior has opted to pass on those to focus on her studies at Florida A&M.
It is a bittersweet feeling for Geter knowing she’s approaching the last few weeks of her softball days. But she is determined to make the most of her remaining time on the diamond.

Wednesday, May 20 marked a good start as Geter helped the Division 1 honorable mention ranked Comets advance to the semifinals of the Greater Lansing Hall of Fame Softball Classic.
Geter hurled a complete game shutout for CAAC Blue champion Grand Ledge in a 2-0 victory over CAAC White champion Eaton Rapids at Ranney Park.
Geter struck out 13 in her strong outing for the Comets
“I think I just really wanted to stay focused and focus on the little things and make sure I’m hitting all my spots,” Geter said. “I’d definitely say my rise ball was a huge factor in the win. It was very on, it was moving a lot and I was able to climb the ladder with it too.”

Grand Ledge (25-4) got a run in the opening inning on an RBI by Amelia Bernard and added another in the fourth, which proved to be enough for Geter. She allowed just four hits and is driven to help the Comets get back on top at the annual area tournament after they fell in the title game in 2025.
“I definitely am super excited and eager to try to win this tournament so I guess I have a lot more push,” Geter said. “I’m definitely more determined to win these (Softball Classic) games and make sure everything is perfect.”
Grand Ledge also hopes a strong showing this week can help it get ready to make another deep run in the state tournament. The Comets reached the Division 1 state quarterfinals last season.
“I think (this win) is a huge momentum builder for us, especially coming off of a hard fought game against Hudsonvllle and then being able to come out here,” Grand Ledge coach Allison Miller said. “It’s a whole different ball game playing out here at the (Softball) Classic.”
