Watch: Allow Sheinelle Jones’ Powerful Message About Body Image to Inspire You
Sheinelle Jones and Jenna Bush Hager know you don’t have time for a self-care day.
Which is why the Today with Jenna & Sheinelle co-hosts are changing the channel on the wellness conversation and embracing the moments when they can prioritize themselves.
“Even though this is technically work, I’m making it self-care, I’m slowing down,” Jones told E! News in a joint conversation with Bush Hager at their inaugural Girls Getaway. “Sometimes we turn wellness into this, ‘I’ve got to go here, I’ve got to go there.’ Wellness can just be a state of mind and a mindset.”
As the Through Mom’s Eyes author, mom to Kayin Ojeh, 17, and 14-year-old twins Clara Ojeh and Uche Ojeh Jr., with late husband Uche Ojeh, explained, “I’m just learning how to build the plane and fly it at the same time. We’re all just doing the best we can.”
Bush Hager is on the same page.
“Most women don’t have time for a full day of wellness, and also wouldn’t even enjoy it if they could,” the Open Book podcaster noted. “It’s about knowing your worth, taking a moment, meditating.”
Bush Hager, who shares kids Mila Hager, 13, Poppy Hager, 11, and Hal Hager, 7, with husband Henry Hager, also makes time for fitness, even if it’s in the early hours.
“I go to the gym every morning, Monday through Thursday at the Today show,” she told E!. “I did not do that seven years ago.”
Because with her young family, her afternoons don’t look like they used to.
“I want to be with my kids or I want to take them to soccer or I want to do other things or I need to do other things,” she explained. “So it’s maybe just about prioritizing the moments you have, as Sheinellesaid, as opposed to thinking about it in days or weeks.”

That’s why bringing their viewers together for a Girls Getaway at Cedar Lakes Estate in Port Jervis, New York, was extra special.
“They made it a priority,” Bush Hager said of the getaway attendees. “Even if somebody was like, ‘My friends couldn’t come, so I came by myself.'”
For them, it’s all about “being brave enough and caring about your well-being enough to take these moments for in-person connection.”
In fact, meeting their audience IRL has given the co-hosts a new POV.
“I forget sometimes the boxes that I check,” Jones said. “I’m a mom. I’m a widow. I’ve had to deal with cancer with a family member. I love my grandmother. I’m a hardcore fourth-generation member of my sorority. But you realize that the boxes that I check, there are women who are watching, and they check the same boxes.”
And for 48 hours, a group of those women got to bond over intimate discussions and panels with Courteney Cox, Laura Geller and Cynthia Rowley.

“It’s so moving,” Jones said of the turnout. “You get up and you do this every day, and you’re waking up to the moon most of the time. You don’t know what’s being received on the other end. You can only hope. And you have your intention, but you don’t know how it lands.”
“Watching all those women,” she added, “it’s like, ‘oh, this is landing.’ What you put out into the world, you know that people are receiving it. So it’s really special.”
