The African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that Sunday Asefon, an aide to President Bola Tinubu and his in-law were directly involved in the recent attack launched against him in Ekiti State.
Sowore made the allegation in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Monday.
He disclosed this while recounting his ordeal in the hands of suspected political thugs in Ekiti State.
According to Sowore, the attack was politically motivated and was sponsored by those close to the Presidency.
He said the thugs who attacked him were mobilized by Tinubu’s aide and in-law to silence him over his constant criticism of the government.
“It was not just a random attack, Tinubu’s aide and in-law were involved in my attack in Ekiti,” Sowore revealed.
The human rights activist said the attack was an attempt to intimidate him and stop him from speaking against bad governance in the country.
He vowed that no amount of intimidation would stop him from fighting for justice and good governance.
Sowore called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to immediately investigate the incident and bring the culprits to book.
As of the time of filing this report, Asefon has not reacted to the allegation, just as Sowore did not state how he arrived at the claim.
