Phrank Shuaibu, senior media aide to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu of politicising his recent Umrah trip to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Shuaibu questioned the faith of the President, alleging that the visit was for a political show.
“President Tinubu politicised his visit for Umrah. The last time he came for Umrah was three years ago. Does Bola Tinubu have sincerity of faith?” Shuaibu said.
“If he did, he would not keep a fellow Muslim, Nasir El-Rufai, in detention over a minor political disagreement,” he added.
President Tinubu had performed Umrah in Saudi Arabia in what the Presidency described as a spiritual exercise.
Shuaibu has been a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration and a member of Atiku’s media team since the 2023 elections.
