Three people shot inside home during latest incident of gunfire

Three people have been shot and injured in Fort St. John’s latest of targeted gun violence.

According to B.C. RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, the shooting occurred on Aug. 14 in the 8800-block of 107A Avenue.

“Investigators have confirmed that three individuals sustained gunshot wounds as a result of this incident. The shooting occurred inside a residence and all three individuals were transported for medical treatment and are currently reported to be in stable condition,” Clark said.

Fort St. John is in northeast B.C. and is a regional hub for the oil and gas industry. It has a population of around 22,000.

Clark said police have searched the home where the three people were shot and seized several vehicles.

“No suspects have been identified. The investigation remains active and officers continue to pursue all available investigative avenues,” he said.

Particularly troubling for police is that it was the third targeted shooting in the past three weeks.

“The recent increase in firearm-related violence is of significant concern to both police and community members,” Clark said.

“While investigators believe these incidents to be targeted, the repeated use of firearms in our community creates an unacceptable risk to public safety.

“These incidents affect not only those directly involved, but also neighbours, families, and members of the public who rightfully expect to feel safe in their homes and neighbourhoods.”

The Fort St. John RCMP is asking anyone with information related to the shootings, surveillance video, dash-camera footage, or information regarding any recent firearm-related incidents in Fort St. John to call 250-787-8100.
