The New England Patriots released Stefon Diggs this offseason, and he is currently unsigned, but his not guilty verdict could open the door for a team to sign him.

Diggs was found not guilty of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery on Tuesday. Diggs was accused by his former live-in personal chef, Jamila Adams. After a two-day trial, he was found not guilty. The court case was a dark cloud looming over his free agency, but now that he is all clear, teams may show more interest.
Diggs was a 1,000-yard receiver last season, coming off a torn ACL. He was a key part of the Patriots’ offense and helped the team reach the Super Bowl. The Washington Commanders make perfect sense as a landing spot.
The Commanders have Terry McLaurin, but Deebo Samuel is a free agent and is not expected to return. The team drafted University of Clemson wide receiver Antonio Williams in the third round, and he could end up playing a big role. However, the wide receiver corps is unproven outside of McLaurin.
Diggs would add a veteran to the room and provide Jayden Daniels with a reliable option outside of McLaurin. Diggs may be willing to sign on a short-term deal, and would be joining a team that was in the NFC Championship just two seasons ago. Diggs proved he still has some good football left in the tank last season.

At the very least, Diggs would elevate the other receivers in the room by creating competition for the other receivers on the team.
