We say: This hair-styling tool is a user-friendly device. Our tester like the blowout brush attachment, which allowed her to create a bouncy blow-dry in a surprisingly small amount of time. The ceramic curling attachments take a bit of practice, but with use — and the right technique — she was able to master quick curls that were sleek and shiny.

They say: A leave-in hair serum that features a 17 per cent Glycolic Acid Gloss Complex to seal the hair’s cuticle and reveal a “lasting glossy effect.” The serum promises strands that are two times shinier, 88 per cent smoother and with 75 per cent less frizz for up to 10 washes.

We say: Less frizz and more shine? Say less. Our tester applied two pumps of this serum to her hair, post-shower, and followed with heat styling. It has a pleasant scent. Our tester found it was easy to work through strands and didn’t weigh hair down after styling. After use, she reported noticing her hair looked more shiny and had less frizz — even on a rainy day.

They say: A new multipurpose hair tool that takes strand from wet to dry. Combining the power of a blowdryer and a hair straightener, the Shark SilkiPro features ceramic hot plates for smoothing and RapidDry high-velocity airflow to dry strands.

We say: Our tester was skeptical about the performance of a product that promises to both dry and straighten strands. Would her hair dry? Would it sizzle (not good)? The answers are yes and no. Using the longer comb attachment, she did a rough dry on her wet strands.

While blowdrying your hair with a straightener-shaped device takes some getting used to, she was able to get her strands from wet to damp. Then she switched to the dry/straighten setting. The device automatically adjusts the heat of the ceramic plates when in wet/dry mode, which helps to eliminate the strand sizzle. Taking small sections of hair, she found it easy to go from damp to straight and smooth. Talk about a time saver.
