BLACK BEAUTY COWBOY BOOTS
Article content
Article content
Since 1946, Vancouver’s Dayton Boot Factory has been making hard-wearing leather boots, with a cult following that even includes guys whose parents named them after the brand. After a disastrous fire in April 2025 that put its east Vancouver factory out of action and destroyed much of its stock, they’re slowly rebuilding, offering the boots that they can, on the best timelines possible. First up: The Black Beauty, originally produced as a cowboy boot for Douglas Lake ranch hands, then becoming a motorcycle icon in 1965, when rubber soles were added. Now available for pre-order, it’s a chic way to bring a Western edge to winter dressing without going full-tilt cowboy.

LA CANADIENNE BEV WRINKLED LEATHER POINTED-TOE BOOTS
Article content
La Canadienne is, obviously, a Canadian brand — one founded in 1987 in Montreal and known for collections with a distinctly urban point of view, from its long wool wrap coats and fuss-free shoulder bags to these elevated Bev boots. A pointed toe, subtly crinkled leather and a slim, angled heel give them an on-trend finish, while a memory foam footbed make them more practical than your average dress boot. Wear them with dresses, trousers, and even jeans — a sampling of just how versatile they are.

KATHY FAUX SHEARLING MOON BOOTS
Article content
Whether you wear these moon boots with a velour tracksuit in a true throwback to early 2000s style, or with leggings for a sleek, après-appropriate look, there’s no denying that they deliver style in spades. Made by Rudsak, the Montreal-based, privately owned brand founded in 1994, their exaggerated round toe and marshmallowy ridged sole deliver everything we love about moon boots — but elevated. In true Canadian form, they’re also water-repellent, that rubber sole is practical and grippy, and they’re finished with a warm, faux shearling lining that should keep your tootsies warm when the forecast says -20 degrees.

HEIDI 2 RAINBOOTS
Article content
Since 1898, Kamik has been making boots for everyone from miners and soldiers to mail carriers and kids; in fact, one of its claims to fame is “125 years of blue-collar cred.” The Quebec company also prides itself on “Fait au Canada,” with 70 per cent of its boots still made in the province. Try out a pair for yourself with these Heidi 2 rain boots, which are fully waterproof, vegan friendly and recyclable, with a glossy finish that brings a little unexpected elegance to wet weather.
