ATLANTA — There have not been many positives for the Mets in a calamitous first half of the 2026 season.
The club enters the holiday weekend with a 36-51 record — tied for the third-worst record in baseball — despite carrying the biggest payroll in baseball this season.

Injuries to a number of players in the Mets’ new core paired with the inconsistency of the team’s starting rotation have pushed them into a dubious hole. But it has not been all bad, surprisingly.
As Major League Baseball announces its All-Star teams on Saturday (starters) and Sunday (reserves), the Mets are guaranteed one representative in the Midsummer Classic on July 14 in Philadelphia.
And not all segments of the Mets have been erratic. There are also a few names within the bullpen who should earn some consideration.
With the National League All-Star team set to be named this weekend, here are three Mets players who deserve consideration:

Despite missing two weeks in April with a calf injury, Soto has managed some of the best offensive figures in all of MLB.
Soto leads the National League with a .957 OPS and fifth in all of baseball with a .403 on-base percentage. Among National League outfielders, the four-time All-Star is fourth in home runs (17) and batting average (.293) to go along with 38 runs and 39 RBI.
The superstar outfielder is the Mets’ lone position player worthy of consideration, which is likely to punch his ticket as a Met for the first time in this career.
Relief pitchers are not often at the top of the list for All-Star consideration, particularly ones that are not picking up saves, but Weaver’s standout performance this season gives him a worthy case to be considered.

In 34 appearances this season, Weaver is 2-1 with a 2.00 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 39 strikeouts in 36 innings. Weaver has tossed 24 straight scoreless innings across 22 appearances and did not allow a run in May or June. He has notched eight holds during that run.
Along the same lines as Weaver, Brazoban is a longshot candidate for an All-Star selection but his performance is worthy of a look.
The 36-year-old has been one of the most valuable members of the club’s pitching staff, supplying efficiency in various different roles, including opener, multi-inning option and high-leverage arm. Brazoban has managed that unsettled position seamlessly, producing a 4-2 record with a 1.94 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 41⅔ innings across 35 appearances.
