Watch: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Wedding Clue? MSG Permit Fuels New Rumors
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have sparks flying early this Fourth of July weekend.
The “End Game” singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end officially tied the knot on July 3, celebrating the milestone with friends and family at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
The holiday weekend holds great significance for Swift, who has become known for her love of the Fourth of July, which she typically marks with a star-studded party at her home in Rhode Island.
In fact, on July 7, 2023, the Grammy winner—who’d split from Matty Healy a month prior—celebrated her single era alongside pals Selena Gomez, Este Haim, Danielle Haim, Alana Haim and Ashley Avignone.
“Happy belated Independence Day,” Swift captioned Instagram photos from the coastal festivities, “from your local neighborhood independent girlies.”
That same day, Swift—in the middle of her Eras World Tour—flew to Kansas City to perform two shows at Arrowhead Stadium, where, unbeknownst to her, Kelce was preparing to shoot his shot with a friendship bracelet.
However, as the athlete tells it, things didn’t go as planned.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows,” he told brother Jason Kelce on the July 26, 2023, episode of their New Heights podcast, “because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings.”

Luckily, Swift—with an assist from mom Andrea Swift—heard him calling on the megaphone about wanting to see her all alone. And, thus, their love story began.
Keep reading for all the details on the significance of the duo’s wedding date and why selecting MSG as their venue actually helped them keep much of the celebration under wraps.
Why Did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Get Married at MSG?
Swift and Kelce have made privacy a top priority throughout their relationship, sharing details, like their August 2025 engagement, on their own terms.
In order to follow suit on their wedding day, they chose a venue that doubled as a secure location. At MSG—where Swift has both attended New York Knicks basketball games and performed multiple times throughout her career—the bride and groom, as well as their A-list attendees, had access to a private loading area, away from the crowded streets of NYC, where they could be photographed.
(E! News obtained records of a special event permit for load-ins and load-outs around MSG for the duration of the festivities.)
MSG’s closed roof also protected the couple from any helicopters or drones trying to sneak a peek at their nuptials.
In addition to privacy, the venue can hold over 20,000 people, allowing Kelce and Swift—who also owns an apartment in the city—to extend their guest list. As she told Graham Norton in October 2025, “It’s huge.”
Plus, with guests like Norton flying in from all over the world, NYC offers a plethora of direct flights.
Why Does Taylor Swift Love the Fourth of July?
Swift has been hosting Fourth of July parties at her Rhode Island home for over a decade, with celebs like Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone, Blake Lively and Karlie Kloss scoring invites to the singer’s holiday celebrations.
Ed Sheeran, who reconnected with now-wife Cherry Seaborn at Swift’s Fourth of July party in 2015, even references the holiday in the lyrics of “End Game.”
When Did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Meet?
Swift and Kelce’s wedding date is also significant because it comes three years after their meet-cute.
In July 2023, Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, hoping to give her a friendship bracelet—a nod to her song “You’re On Your Own Kid”—with his number on it. And although he fumbled the attempt, her mom Andrea stepped in to play matchmaker, encouraging her to give him a chance.
Swift and Kelce, both 36, went public with their romance a few months later in September 2023 when she returned to Arrowhead Stadium to watch the guy on the Chiefs in action.
