The home and personal appliance company recently launched the Supersonic Travel hair dryer in Canada. The hair tool is the shrunk-down version of its popular Supersonic and Supersonic Nural devices.

In addition to weighing in at just 0.7 pounds (compared with the full-sized version’s 1.9 pounds), the new Supersonic Travel hair dryer features a big edge for a travel tool: smart electricity. The hair dryer boasts global voltage compatibility, which means you don’t have to worry about burning up your beloved Dyson due to international voltage and a lousy converter plug when travelling abroad.

While a 25 per cent more compact device might not sound like much, we compared the two sizes ourselves and found the new Supersonic Travel really is a better pick for packing. Especially as so many of us are trying to fit everything into a carry-on suitcase these days rather than dealing with (OK, and paying for) a checked bag.

The travel-friendly hair dryer features the same ‘intelligent heat control’ capabilities of the larger devices, which help to protect strands against excessive heat damage. The Supersonic Travel hair dryer is billed as having three heat settings: high 167 F; medium 212 F; and constant cool. It also has two speed settings for faster or regular drying options.

While the new hair tool comes with one attachment — a smoothing nozzle — it’s compatible with Supersonic attachments, which will be a big draw for those who already have a Dyson Supersonic at home.
