Watch: The Mandalorian & Grogu Cast Teases a Surprising New Side of Baby Yoda
Baby Yoda’s adventures aren’t child’s play.
At least that’s what The Mandalorian & Grogu stars Sigourney WeaverandPedro Pascalare revealing, sharing how fans will see The Child in a whole new light
“I think what’s interesting about Grogu is he will surprise you,” Sigourney, 76, exclusively told E! News’ Will Marfuggi at the Los Angeles premiere of The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 14. “You can depend on that. He looks like a little creature-eating, happy-go-lucky guy, but I think he’s got much more of a warrior in him than we think.”
In the Jon Favreau movie, which arrives in theaters on May 22, Pedro’s titular Mandalorian and Grogu are tasked with rescuing Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White) in exchange for information. As for where the movie falls in Mando (a.k.a Din Djarin) and Grogu’s journey? Well, the film is set not long after the events of the third and final season of The Mandalorian which ended with Mando adopting Grogu.
But even with a courageous streak, Baby Yoda’s cuteness levels won’t be turned down, with Pedro sharing, “He gets more and more adorable.”
In fact, the 51-year-old’s bond with Grogu has grown so much that he views the beloved character like his own.
“I don’t have any kids,” he continued, “but I can imagine that the way you fall more and more in love with your kids every day is the same.”

As for Jon, he admits “that puppet is amazing” and far exceeded his expectations for Baby Yoda—which was what the character was referred to by fans until his name was revealed in season two.
“Legacy Effects had built it,” the director, 59, explained. “It started off as a much simpler [puppet]. They overdelivered. We just wanted something for the background.”
He continued, “We never thought it would be the main, but every year he got a little bit better and now that puppet is the star of the show.”
The Mandalorian & Grogu, also starring Jonny Coyne, Dave Filoni and Steve Blum, releases in theaters May 22. As you await the latest adventures between Din Djarin and Grogu, read on to check out more upcoming movie premieres…
