Filming for season 3 of HBO’s The Last of Us has taken to the streets of Vancouver. Again.

Downtown Vancouver was recently dressed up as the apocalypse-ravaged Seattle for scenes starring Kaitlyn Dever (Abby) and Kyriana Kratter (Lev).

The post-apocalyptic series, which began shooting the third season in the beginning of March, is slated to continue filming here in Hollywood North through the end of November. Social media posts have captured some of the recent filming action, as fans spot the unique set around the downtown core.

The series, adapted from a video game, takes place two decades after civilization has been flattened by a fungal pandemic. Season 2 of the award-winning series ended with a bloody cliffhanger.

Reports on the specifics of season 3 have been kept secret so far. The only thing really known is that season 3, rumoured to be the last season for the show, will focus on Abby’s story and the conflict between the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and the Seraphites.

“The fans are really going to like it, I think, the shifting perspective onto Abby, getting some more context onto her storyline and going back in time with this season. So, I’m very excited for the fans to see it,” Dever told Deadline back in January.

The series has been spotted filming in various locations in recent weeks around the Lower Mainland, including back in April setting up shop at the old Hudson’s Bay store, which has been vacant since closing its doors a year ago.

Vancouver has been a stand-in for Seattle for several cycles of filming, which has allowed eagle-eyed fans the chance to spot several production scenes. In 2024, the show turned Vancouver’s Chinatown into another major filming location.
