Oh, so NOW you can say they’re Communists. Now.
I lived in Cuba. As a historian, I have studied Communism and other versions of totalitarianism (all remarkably similar). For almost ten years, since 2017, I have been pointing out the parallels between Communist regimes and American liberals and have increasingly and stridently referred to them as Communists. All the obvious signs have been there for years. And I have waited for conservative writers and Republican politicians to come out and shout it out in print or voice; with a few isolated writers calling them Communists, most have been extremely reluctant to use the C-word.
I guess they thought it would not be polite to do so.
Even when Antifa was flashing and waving the hammer and sickle.
It has been very frustrating.
And don’t forget one thing: when the Berlin Wall came down, nobody rushed to the Communist side.
Take, for example, Bernie Sanders. He ran for president in 2020, yet no one referred to him as a Communist, certainly not the media. He had repeatedly expressed admiration for the Communist regimes of Cuba, Nicaragua, China and the Soviet Union. When he got married, he did not honeymoon in Italy, Japan, Greece, Spain, or the Caribbean islands. Instead, he went to the Soviet Union (which begs the question: did he tour the gulag, was he shown around torture rooms in the KGB headquarters?).
This information was never brought up by any other candidates for the presidency, though it was readily available and, throughout, he has been advocating Communism by rebranding it as “democratic socialism,” which is like putting lipstick on a pig (and some conservatives, being stupid, still keep repeating the varnish of “democratic socialism” whenever the topic comes up instead of calling it Communism).
But let’s be honest: a great many conservatives are cowards, plain and simple, though they sound very ferocious. As Schiller put it, “Bold were my words because my deeds were not.”
Remember how only Rand Paul confronted Fauci at the height of the covid fiasco? And now that it’s safe, they act like they are so ferocious? Nine years ago, when I stated outright that liberals were closet Communists, my articles were rejected by editors for being too strident, for jumping to conclusions. Nine years ago, I was also sounding the alarm that censorship was beginning to become evident and in danger of spreading; editors rejected the article as hyperbole. And now that I have written on the frequency of many vicious, racist attacks on whites by blacks, my articles are rejected by editors for their “tone,” or for “lack of nuance ” — Accept for TAS. I am not writing this to toot my own horn. Other persons who lived in Communist countries have been warning for years about the resurgence of Communism, people from Poland, Vietnam, China, Cuba, Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Romania. We have been the canaries in the coalmine. This from Polish-Canadian pastor, Artur Pawlowski, “We were warning Americans and Canadians — Westerners — about what is coming. We could smell it for many years. People were laughing at us. ‘Oh, you’re just making this stuff up. You’re blowing this out of proportion. You are conspiracy theorist.’ However, it’s here.”
Occasionally, they were interviewed here and there. And then dropped, ignored like Cassadra, instead of spotlighting their warnings again and again and again, and supporting them in every way possible, whether buying their books, paying them to lecture, or having repeated interviews.
In the science-fiction movie Alien, an extraterrestrial predator is unwittingly brought onto a spaceship. Starting out small, it steadily becomes unstoppable and increasingly lethal while the bewildered crew is picked off one by one. At one point, the remaining crew asks the resident android how to kill it and his response, in a surprised tone, is, “You still don’t know what you’re dealing with, do you?”
The obvious signs were/are there. We could see the danger coming a mile away. First, the word “Fascist” was rarely used or known until a few years ago and now it has saturated the culture. “Fascist” is what Communists have automatically called their opponents.
Second, the word “People’s” is included in the name of organizations or books, such as A People’s History of the United States,” written by a Communist named Howard Zinn; for years, it has been included in numerous schools as an indoctrination tool, with the conservatives — as usual — doing nothing about it (except for whining, which is really what they do best).
Third, the falsification, if not outright mutilation, of history in order to be in lockstep with their totalitarian ideology, as was illustrated in 1984. Zinn’s book is an excellent example, as is the New York Times’s 1619 Project; this falsification is the basis for the attacks on American holidays.
Fourth, the public Jacobin-cannibalism phenomenon. This occurs when the member of the Marxist herd disagrees with a particular item in the ideology and the pack suddenly whirls around and tears him to pieces. Some individuals have disappeared from the public eye while others have been so well established in society that they have been able to navigate through the feeding frenzy, (e.g., Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Tulsi Gabbard, Bernard-Henri Lévy, Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Naomi Wolf, Tulsi Gabbard, Bill Maher, J. K. Rowling, Russell Brand, John Fetterman. Included in this list is also the number of transgenders who detransitioned and condemned the sexual mutilation of children).
Remember the hatred between the Socialists, the National Socialist Worker’s Party, the Trotsky Communist Party, and the Stalinist Communist Party. Heretics are seen as being more evil than the original targets. Remember the bitter Trotsky-Stalin wars, the Mao-Khrushchev-Tito-Stalin-Hoxha hatreds? For Communists, everyone must conform, must unquestion, must march in lockstep.
Fifth, Potemkin elections are the norm. The appearance of fair elections is a transparent fraud. Democrat states continue to be in Democrats’ power election after election after election, no matter how bad the situation becomes, regardless of the fact that they have run the state/city into the ground. Democrats have a long, well proven track record of electoral fraud going back decades. Philadelphia, for example, has not had a Republican mayor in over 70 years. Just look at the recent Potemkin election in L.A.’s mayoral primary.
Sixth, the mutilation of science. Leaving Lysenko aside, just focus on liberals claiming that transgender women can be pregnant and are women, while claiming it’s science. Or the feminists’ Lysenko-like assertion that there are no differences between men and women. Or the falsification of data, as in the current trend to label black and Muslim convicts as white. Also, in Criminal Victimization in the United States, 2005, Statistical Tables, the data showing that rapes of white women by blacks was 19,293 and rapes of black women by whites was zero was removed.
Lastly (though there are more), the Communist accusation, “You’re on the wrong side of history.” It would take too long to relate what’s ideologically behind this phrase but suffice it to say that if someone hurls that accusation, then it’s good odds that it’s a Marxist saying it.
Anyway, the sudden public and very loud presence of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), with their open advocation of Communism, their hammer and sickle/red star, parroting their slogans in person and in writing, their admiration of Cuba’s Communist regime and Iran’s theocracy while simultaneously proclaiming their solidarity with the Cuban and Iranian people, and various other goals, has ironically given permission for a great many conservatives to finally come out and state the C-word. In fact, in his recent speech at Mt. Rushmore, President Trump warned of the dangers of Communism. Predictably, the mainstream media had a fit over it.
The Communists are presently trying to take over the Democratic Party (and not one of these Communists has read a single word of Das Kapital; the basis for proclaiming Communism is simply their hatred of their country). We shall see how that turns out.
Something to keep in mind that has been left out of history books written by liberals is that after their inept failed revolution in the Sixties, the Communists took advantage of the recent changes in choosing candidates to get George McGovern as the party’s candidate. Regular Democrats were so alarmed at the choice and at their behavior at the convention that they bolted the party and campaigned for Nixon (I remember working the phones next to Democrats at the Republican headquarters). Nixon won 49 out of 50 states. We shall see what happens this time around.
Communism is like herpes: once you think it’s gone, it comes back again. Schools, be they high schools or universities, are patient zero. There, facts are suppressed; history is mutilated. Schools should be mandated to teach the horrors of Communism. The pending Crucial Communism Teaching Act is a step in the right direction. It would be a prophylactic.
And don’t forget one thing: when the Berlin Wall came down, nobody rushed to the Communist side.
