Shots rang out in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood on Tuesday morning.

The Surrey Police Service said it was called just before 10:45 a.m. about shots being fired near 66th Avenue and 129th Street in South Newton.

A person in a vehicle was seen shooting at a person in another vehicle before both vehicles took off, police said in a news release.

Police said two homes were hit, but no injuries were reported.

The motive isn’t known, but investigators don’t believe it’s linked to the recent rash of extortion shootings.
