Darrell Sheets’ loved ones are holding their memories close.
Following the death of the Storage Wars star, who died of an apparent suicide on April 22 at the age of 67, his ex-wife Kimber Wuerfel shared insight into her grief.
“I haven’t had the words until now,” she wrote in an April 30 Instagram message. “Thank you for all the love, prayers, and condolences, it has meant more than I can say. Darrell gave us so many moments of laughter, connection, and life.”
Noting details about a service in Sheets’ honor would be shared at a later date, she continued, “May the memories you hold of him stay close to your heart, as mine will stay with me forever. From our family to yours, thank you.”
Accompanying the caption was a video montage of moments that she and Sheets shared together over the years. While they parted ways in 2016, per Us Weekly, the pair reportedly remained close in the time since.
Sheets was found dead at a home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., on April 22, police told E! News in a statement. Authorities noted he appeared to have died by suicide, but that the case remained under investigation.

Following the death of the reality star—who for three decades ran a business of buying abandoned storage units at auctions—Storage Wars: Back to the Locker Rom dedicated its April 25 episode to Sheets’ memory.
The day before, his costar Laura Dotson shared insight into the toll living a life in the spotlight had taken on his life, including the cyberbullying he’d allegedly been dealing with.

“His family told us that this has been happening for three years,” Dotson told Us Weekly in an interview published April 24. “[It happens to] even strong men that you think aren’t gonna get their feelings hurt. Cyberbullying is a real thing. This made him feel less than, and it really obviously bothered him.”
“He was terrified for his life [and] for the people around him,” she added. “He didn’t know why he was being targeted.”
For her, Dotson will always remember Sheets as a “truly, truly was a wonderful, loving person who believed in God.”
