Staffing challenges are once again closing the emergency department at Mission Memorial Hospital.

In a notice shared Sunday afternoon, Fraser Health said there would be no ER beginning 5 p.m. on Sunday and lifting at 8 a.m. Monday.

Patients waiting to be seen by a doctor will be seen but only before the doctors’ shifts end at 11 p.m.

“During the service interruption, emergency-trained nurses will continue to be on site and available to support walk-in patients needing basic care, assist with redirection of care, and/or transfer patients with urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital,” the notice read.

Patients requiring more complicated will be redirected by B.C. Emergency Health to a nearby hospital with adequate resources.
