Tottenham Hotspur could be without James Maddison when they host Newcastle United on Saturday, according to The Telegraph. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club started 2026-27 with a 3-0 defeat to Brentford at the weekend, and they are back in action on Wednesday. Spurs play Charlton Athletic in the second round of the Carabao Cup before welcoming Newcastle in their second Premier League game of the new campaign.

Maddison came on in the 68th minute against the Bees, replacing Mikey Moore. He has needed checks on a knock sustained in the game after the 29-year-old fell awkwardly on his shoulder after coming on. It was his first appearance since featuring in only three games last term due to a knee injury he sustained during a friendly against Newcastle last year’s pre-season.
