After 16 years, Spain were finally able to add a new star to their national team jersey on Sunday.
The Spanish team beat defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra-time to win the 2026 World Cup, claiming their second title in the competition following their success in 2010.

After the match, the official X account of the national team published a video of the second star being embroidered on the jersey.
“Hello, star. You’ve been alone for 16 years, but it’s time for you to have company atop our crest,” the post said.
Often found on top of the crest, the stars traditionally symbolize a team’s World Cup wins.
