Quarterback Daniel Jones scrambled for 5 yards on the next play, setting up fourth-and-8. Steichen sent the offense out but took a delay of game penalty when he didn’t like the defensive look and kicked the game-tying field goal with 3:11 to play.
Taylor had been effective against a stacked line of scrimmage all game: 22 carries for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. But Colts fans were mostly livid that Steichen ran the ball and took the field goal, giving Patrick Mahomes more than three minutes to drive the Chiefs into position for a game-winning field goal.
