The San Jose Sharks keep coming up in Simon Edvinsson trade rumors.
On TSN’s recent Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun again brought up the Sharks when discussing the Detroit Red Wings’ restricted free agent. Edvinsson, 23, is a 6-foot-6 top-four defenseman. Edvinsson must sign a new contract before Dec. 1 or he is not eligible to play this season.

“The San Jose Sharks are an intriguing team,” LeBrun said. “They have had talks with Detroit about Edvinsson. Why? Because they think he’d be a great fit for them. A 23-year-old defenseman would fill a hole on their blue line.”
Insider Elliotte Friedman also mentioned that the Sharks and Red Wings had talked “extensively” about a potential trade in his recent 32 Thoughts podcast. He wasn’t sure what the Sharks were offering.
Edvinsson would obviously fill a huge need for San Jose now, and in the future. But LeBrun also noted that the Red Wings are still holding out hope to re-sign the young defenseman.
