Olympic-winning gymnast Simone Biles revealed a few details about a scary health scare that led to a brief stint at the hospital.
Biles shared a photo of her arm covered in patient wristbands on June 6, explaining in her Instagram Story how she’d been “in bed resting this week.”
“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age, but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” she wrote.

“This was one of, if not the scariest, experience of my life. Especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices,” she added, referring to her husband, Jonathan Owens, who was away at Indianapolis Colts offseason practice. “I’ve been in bed resting this week, I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers loooovveeee y’all.”
In separate posts, Biles shared photos of flower bouquets in glass vases and her being in bed with two dogs, alongside her restaing heart rate in a screenshot. She captioned that picture with “I’ll be here.”
Saturday’s revelation comes roughly six weeks after Biles’ most recent public appearance, at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid on April 20, where she attended as an ambassador. In late April, she told CNN’s Amanda Davies that a possible return to competition at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics remained a coin-flip decision with little time to spare.

“I feel like we’re still at a 50-50 and that we’re still on a time crunch here now, it’s almost half of 2026,” she said at the time. “We’re going to have to make these decisions pretty quickly.”
