Shedeur Sanders has faced criticism over his response to questions about his fit in the Cleveland Browns’ offence, with one radio host questioning whether he has what it takes to become an NFL starting quarterback.
The rookie is preparing to step in for Deshaun Watson, who entered concussion protocol after reporting symptoms following Cleveland’s 27-6 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sanders took all the first-team practice reps as the Browns prepared for their meeting with the New Orleans Saints, but his recent comments have drawn attention.
Speaking on 92.3 The Fan, host Anthony Lima was particularly unimpressed by Sanders’ response to questions about fitting into Todd Monken’s offensive system.
Sanders had questioned why the topic was still being discussed so far into the season, saying: “We’re in, like, week seven, and we’re talking about how the offensive system fitting me? We could have figured that out in training camp.”

However, Lima argued that Sanders had not done enough to secure the starting job during the off-season and pre-season.
“You didn’t win the starting job in the off-season, Shedeur, in the pre-season. So, it’s a legitimate question to ask if you are meshing with the offense because apparently you were not meshing with the offense enough under Todd Monken to win the d*** starting job.”
Lima then questioned whether the quarterback was ready for the demands of the position.
“It sounds like you might not be cut out to be a starting quarterback in the NFL if you can’t make the layups. That’s all.”
