Watch: Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen Make Low-Key Public Appearance Ahead of NYFW
There’s only a New York minute until NYFW, and the Olsen twins look ready for the runway.
Both Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen showed off their tried-and-true understated street style during a rare public sighting in the Big Apple ahead of the annual fashion showcase commencing Sept. 10.
Mary-Kate kept her aesthetic summery in black gaucho shorts and a white T-shirt, opting for a chic pair of Adidas to add a sporty touch to her look for their adventures around the city Sept. 8.
Meanwhile, Ashley didn’t let the seasonal heat stop her from rocking straight-legged jeans with the perfect amount of slouch for comfort, along with a cozy black sweater from DV. The eldest twin chose leather thong sandals for her footwear and accessorized with a spacious black tote.
And while the sisters, both 40, weren’t quite twinning for their movements around Manhattan, they did covertly coordinate their ensembles. Each wore matching sleek black sunglasses to complement their effortless hairstyles, with Mary-Kate’s tresses in her latest favorite, a dark-to-warm blonde ombre, while Ashley has stuck to a timeless ash brown.

It was a rare appearance for the Full House alums—who last appeared together on screen in 2004’s New York Minute, though Mary-Kate appeared in 2011’s Beastly alongside Alex Pettyfer—following a lunch date with a friend in Midtown in April.
As such, it’s no surprise to see the twins gearing up for fashion week as they continue to focus on their successful fashion label, The Row, established in 2006.
Despite their retreat from Hollywood life, the actresses have maintained a relationship with their former sitcom costars, including Jodie Sweetin who played their older sister Stephanie Tanner.

“Everyone’s on good terms with them,” the podcaster explained while appearing on Comics and Kicks June 30. “But they were 8 years old when this show stopped. Then, they did all of those movies and all that stuff that I don’t know that they really loved doing all the time.”
As such, she wasn’t surprised that the designers discovered acting “isn’t what they love.”
