Watch: Heidi Klum Teases “Very, Very Bloody” Halloween Costume for 2026
These celebrities have the upper hand when it comes to over-the-top Halloween costumes.
Many of Hollywood’s biggest names were nearly unrecognizable while attending Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party in New York City Oct. 31, transforming into some of pop culture’s most iconic characters.
Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka did a 180 and turned into the twins from The Shining with brunette wigs, colored contacts, baby blue dresses and all.
For his part, James Charles made onlookers do a double-take as villain Yzma from 2000’s The Emperor’s New Groove, telling E! News it took him seven and a half hours to get ready for the event, which was presented by Apothic and Butterfinger at Cathédrale in New York City.
“I did prosthetics, and I’m not a special effects makeup artist, so that definitely tacked on a little bit more time than I would normally need,” Charles told E!. “It’s one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid. It’s just a great way to combine glamor, camp, color and a lot of effort for Halloween.”
Meanwhile, Taylor Momsen proved ghouls just wanna have fun, dressing as rocker Angus Young after touring with AC/DC for the past three years.
While many of this year’s attendees had spooktacular outfits, Klum herself deserved the biggest applause as she transformed into her own left hand. No surprise—she has unveiled some instantly-iconic costumes since launching her annual monster bash over two decades ago.

The Project Runway host arrived as Fiona from Shrek in 2018, Who Framed Roger Rabbit’s Jessica Rabbit in 2015 and the realistic earthworm in 2022—all of which were made with the help of her favorite tool: prosthetics.
And though her costumes may be a lovely treat for fans, Klum’s costumes are no trick for her. In fact, they often take months of planning and hours to get into.

“Everything is hand-painted,” she told E! News at last year’s party, noting it took her and husband Tom Kaulitz 10 hours to get into their Medusa-themed costumes. “About 15 people have been working on this, and I think they did a fantastic job.”
As for why Klum opted for an intricate and grotesque version of the Greek mythology character?

“I’ve been thinking about Medusa for quite some time,” she continued, “because I’ve seen over the years obviously many, many Medusas, and I thought, ‘You know, one day I’m going to try my own.’”
The 53-year-old added, “I really wanted to have snakes that were moving, a super-ugly, super-scary face, really ugly teeth, and to be like a really long rattlesnake.”
This year, Klum got bloodied up as her own severed left hand—wedding ring and all.
“My left hand inspired me,” she told E!. “I looked at my hand and I was thinking, ‘How can I fit my body into this hand?’ There must be a way… Two legs could fit into fingers and the body in my palm, and it did work.”
