Watch: Jason Lewis on Former Costars Kim Cattrall & Cynthia Nixon
The Absolut Hunk is back.
Sex and the City alum Jason Lewis gave fans a peek into what he’s been up to in the years since he stepped out of the spotlight.
“Three years ago I went quiet,” he began in a May 20 video posted to a newly created Instagram account, “not because I had nothing to say, but because I had something to do.”
“The kind of creative work that doesn’t leave room for much else,” Jason continued, “and I made my peace with that.”
And while the 54-year-old didn’t reveal exactly what he’d been working on, he did reveal that his current endeavor is “the kind of work that needs to find its people.”
“I’m still in it,” heexplained, “but I’m far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what I’ve been doing.”
Teasing there was “more to come,” he admitted in the video’s caption that when it came to breaking his silence, “after three years, it was time.”
Jason is likely best remembered by audiences as model Jerry “Smith” Jerrod, the love interest of Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones on Sex and the City—a role he also reprised in the 2008 film and its 2010 sequel. (Like his onscreen love, who made the briefest of cameos on And Just Like That, he didn’t participate in the sequel series.)
While his last on screen role was in 2020’s Palm Swings, he also competed on season 31 of Dancing With the Stars in 2022, although he and partner Peta Murgatroyd were the first couple eliminated.
Originally a model who appeared in campaigns for Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss, Jason decided to slow down when it came to his acting career and only focus on projects he was genuinely interested in.
“I pulled away from the industry for a while because I think I was chasing success,” he explained to People in 2017, via Yahoo, “and I wasn’t feeling good about what I was doing.”
“I went to libraries as a kid. Stories are a great way to not only know you aren’t alone,” he added, “but to get dialogues and wisdom from around the world.”

Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi have since moved to the Cotswolds, deciding to stay put in November 2024 after Donald Trump‘s reelection, the talk show host told to Richard Bacon in a July 2025 conversation at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham.”It’s absolutely beautiful,” she gushed about the English countryside, per the BBC. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture—everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.”It’s clean,” Ellen continued. “Everything here is just better—the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here. We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks.”
