A familiar sight for Eagles fans has been getting all too scary over the past couple of weeks: a Saquon Barkley injury early in games. While the former Penn State legend has been able to play through injury early in this season, this latest setback may need some time to figure out, especially considering the Eagles’ offensive woes continue to persist. Still, Eagles fans will almost certainly want more clarity and most importantly, stability surrounding Saquon in this offense.
On just his second carry of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Barkley went down with an apparent hamstring injury and did not return to the game after a trip to the medical tent. The severity of this specific injury seems at the very least a bit more significant than the one he suffered against the Titans. Still, according to several reports, it is still vague as to how much time, if any, Barkley faces on the sideline.

According to Ian Rapaport, several tests today could determine whether or not Barkley will have to miss an extended amount of time. “The severity of this injury will be determined by tests today at the outset. It does not seem to be overly serious, but we will see for Saquon how long he’s going to be out and when he is able to return”, Rapaport said on Monday, via social media.
This has now become too much of a common theme for Eagles fans and it has potentially led to the detriment of their offense. In yet another close game, unlike against the Titans, the Eagles were unable to both hold onto a lead and subsequently come back. Without Barkley in the game, both the rushing attack and QB Jalen Hurts struggled. Backup RB Tank Bigsby only had 55 yards, while Hurts didn’t even eclipse 100 yards through the air. More worrying was their anemic performance on third down, where they went 0-for-14.
While Saquon Barkley may not be able to fix all of the offense’s problems, his injury woes are contributing to its lack of consistency.
