Roman Anthony still hasn’t swung a bat in almost two weeks since his late-May setback.
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy shared the news prior to Monday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.

Anthony has been on the 10-day injured list since May 7 with a sprained ligament under his right ring finger suffered during an at-bat in Detroit on May 4.
The Red Sox labeled the injury a “right wrist sprain.” However, in an interview with WEEI’s Rob Bradford, Anthony called it a “partially torn ring finger ligament in (the) ring finger CMC (carpometacarpal)” joint.
Anthony tried to hit off a tee in late May but felt discomfort upon doing so. This came after he took dry swings without any pain.
He did not get further imaging.
“It’s just one of those things that it’s just not ready yet,” Tracy said.

The Red Sox were initially hopeful Anthony would avoid the injured list and listed the 22-year-old as day-to-day. Anthony said he expected to be ready once the 10-day stint was up and it was “nothing too serious.”
There is no timetable for Anthony’s return.
“I just know that with this injury, we’ve gotta wait until it feels better, add more,” Tracy said. “When that feels better, you add more. And that’s where we’re at. And until it gets to the point where he feels healthy and he feels like his hand is healthy, then we can proceed quickly, but we have to get to that point.”
