Slovak left wing Michal Svrcek, a Red Wings prospect, is making it easy for his NHL team to follow his progress by signing up to play in their backyard.

The Detroit 2025 fourth-round pick (119th overall) agreed to play the 2026-27 season in the Canadian Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires. The Spitfires picked Svrcek 53rd overall in the CHL Import Draft.
Svrcek played last season for Brynas in the Swedish Hockey League, splitting his time between the junior team and the pro club. He produced six goals and 18 points in 11 games. He played 10 games for the senior team without scoring. Brynas loaned him to Vasteras IK (HockeyAllsvenskan) where he played 12 games without producing a point.
Scouts use the word “relentless” to discuss his potential. He brings plenty of energy to his shifts. High motor. Dedicated forechecker. He knows how to use his speed. The hope is he will develop into a middle six forward. At worse, he could be a pesky checker. He’s only about 5-foot-10.
He played for Slovakia at the U18 World Championships (two goals, two assists, seven games) and the World Junior Championships (one goal, one assist, five games).

“Svrcek is a world junior talent and will make an immediate impact with our club” GM Bill Bowler told the CHL website.
