On that afternoon in 2013, David Ortiz took the microphone during a pregame ceremony and delivered one of the most iconic speeches in sports history. Standing on the infield in a special “Boston” jersey, he captured the city’s defiance and resilience with his famous unfiltered declaration:”This is our f***ing city, and nobody’s gonna dictate our freedom. Stay strong.”
The speech became a rallying cry for “Boston Strong,” transforming the ballpark into a space for collective healing and signaling that the city would not be defined by fear.
