The Boston Red Sox‘s bullpen already has been one of the best units in baseball this season. Still, it could be further bolstered by the impending return of 12-year veteran reliever Danny Coulombe.

Boston placed Coulombe on the 15-day injured list with cervical (neck) spasms, but he is nearing his return after making multiple rehab appearances. Despite conflicting reports on whether the 36-year-old would make another outing in the minor leagues, Tommy Cassell of the Worcester T&G Sports reported on Friday that Coulombe was not with the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox.
“Danny Coulombe is currently not with the Worcester Red Sox — and I believe (Nat Gordon) had earlier that the rehabbing lefty threw a side session earlier today and is expected to be activated at some point this weekend with the Boston Red Sox,” Cassell wrote.
