(WBRE/WYOU)— The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders split their doubleheader against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs on Wednesday. The RailRiders lost the first game 4-2, but bounced back with a 16-0 victory in the second.
In game one, the RailRiders struck first in the fourth after an RBI groundout that scored J.C. Escarra before an RBI double by Yanquiel Fernandez brought in the second run that inning.

That would be it for the RailRiders, though, as this one was a pitching duel with Alexander Cornielle pitching the first as the opener, while Adam Kloffenstein went 6.2 innings, allowing four runs, three of them earned, on five hits and six strikeouts.
The IronPigs opened up with Casey Lawrence pitching a scoreless first before Drake Fellows allowed two runs on seven hits, going six innings, and Tanner Banks going the final two innings and picking up his first win of the year.
The IronPigs ‘ eight-inning rally started with a double by Robert Moore before he was brought home by Steward Berroa on an RBI single that brought home Moore. Kameron Minser brought home Berroa after he singled off Kloffenstein to tie the game. Otto Kemp then singled and was aided by an error by Fernandez in RF to bring home the two runners and break the 2-2 tie.
In the second game, it was all Railriders with a three-run first thanks to an Anthony Volpe solo shot, an RBI single by J.C. Escarra, and an RBI ground out by Oswaldo Cabrera.

The damage continued in the third with a sac fly by Marco Luciano to make it 4-0, and then in the fourth with a two-run shot by Kenedy Corona, and then a two-run shot by J.C. Escarra to make it 8-0.
The eight-run sixth was the nail in the coffin with an RBI single by Marco Luciano, an RBI single by J.C. Escarra, an RBI single by Oswaldo Cabrera, a walk by Yanquiel Fernandez, and then a grand slam by Kenedy Corona to make it 16-0.
The two continue their series on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against Lehigh Valley as they sit tied for third with the Durham Bulls, just two games back of the Rochester Red Wings for first place.
