Police divers will search Stony Lake outside Prince George on Tuesday for the body of a teenaged boater who went under and is presumed drowned.

The 17-year-old was one of four people on a boat that capsized on Saturday. Three others were able to make it to shore but the operator did not resurface and could not be located.

An extensive search was conducted but the missing youth, identified as a 17-year-old from Prince George, remains missing.

“Our efforts to locate the boy are ongoing with our underwater recovery team anticipated to arrive” Tuesday, said Staff Sgt. Kris Clark of the B.C. RCMP.

Stony Lake is about 90 kilometres southeast of Prince George. Though accessible only by forest service roads and back roads, it is popular with people from the city for fishing and camping.
