Here’s a look at some of the action set to take place involving teams in the Shreveport-Bossier City area on the second weekend of the 2026 Louisiana High School Athletic Association high school football season.
Also included is our forecast of which 10 teams are likely to triumph in several battles expected to be highly contested.

Note: After a surly off-the-field week, the Jackets put together a worthy performance at Ouachita before falling by a TD in Week 1 thanks to a record effort from Christian Maxie. Can the senior repeat that effort against a Vikings squad that needed all of its 48 points to defeat Wossman?
Watson’s prediction: Airline 42, Byrd 38
Note: The Bearkats got their season off to a rousing start last week with a 42-7 win over North Caddo. Glenbrook may put up a better fight this week but look for Bossier to prevail.

Note: BTW provided plenty of offense in Week 1 with a 54-0 win versus Arcadia, while the Tigers were pulling off a mild upset of Northwood behind SMU commit Malachi Zeigler running the offense. The Lions counter with 6-foot-6, 230-pound junior QB Devion Stewart, who has weapons to keep things close.

Note: The Falcons will find out if they can rebound on the road against a West Ouachita club that didn’t score last week against 2A Oak Grove.
Watson’s prediction: Northwood 28, West Ouachita 14
Where: Northwood Stadium
Note: The Giants came out firing against Southwood and exploded for a 44-0 victory, while the Knights lost a close one to Minden. This one could go either way.
Watson’s prediction: Green Oaks 32, North Webster 31
Note: The Gators have a lot to prove this week after getting dominated by Loyola 55-24 in their opener. The Rams should provide just the fodder Chris Hill and company need for a rebound.

Watson’s prediction: Captain Shreve 44, Bastrop 20
Where: Indy Stadium
Note: The question that should be asked is why the Raiders scheduled the defending LHSAA Select Division I state champions? Usually loaded with college talent, Karr should make things difficult for the hosts.
Watson’s prediction: Karr 54, Huntington 34
Note: If anyone predicted these two teams would be winless to open their seasons, they deserve a trophy. The Tigers were manhandled by Ruston, while the Eagles didn’t find much to like versus West Monroe. This one is worth watching.

Watson’s prediction: Neville 31, Evangel 28
Note: The Griffins were dominant in destroying Union Parish in Week 1, indicating there’s no rebuilding to be done after Luke Delafield’s graduation. Freshman Mason Smith completed 21 of 29 throws for 310 yards and 3 TDs in his debut. Enough said.
Watson’s prediction: North DeSoto 48, NCHS 24
Note: Taylor Weathersby hooked the Bucs up with 42 points against Homer and he should repeat that effort this week. Can the Haughton defense provide the Cowboys with a second straight shutout?
