The Kaduna State Police Command has restricted the movement of heavy-duty vehicles across the state from midnight until 8 pm on Saturday ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit.
Tinubu is expected to attend the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Kaduna.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, said the restriction was introduced to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement during the presidential visit.
The directive covers trailers, fuel tankers, articulated trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles.
The police command said security personnel, alongside other security agencies, would be deployed to safeguard the president, dignitaries and members of the public during the event.
Residents were advised to avoid the rally venue unless they had essential business there, as part of measures to manage crowd movement and maintain public order.
The command also warned against political violence, thuggery, intimidation and the possession of dangerous weapons.
Heavy-duty vehicle operators were urged to use alternative routes throughout the period of the restriction.
Rabiu called on residents, political party supporters and media organisations to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the rally.
